Table of Contents

Planning a short trip to Jaipur and wondering how to explore the Pink City in just two days? As a local tour guide, I am often asked by travellers about the best way to experience Jaipur’s culture, history, food, and hidden corners in a limited time. My name is Dhanraj, and through this guide, I will share a 2-day Jaipur itinerary that I have personally curated after years of guiding visitors from around the world.

This plan covers top places to visit in Jaipur, cultural highlights, food recommendations, and local insights that only a guide living here can tell you. If you follow this route, you will not only see Jaipur’s famous attractions but also experience it like a local.

Day 1: The Royal Heart of Jaipur

Morning: City Palace and Jantar Mantar

Begin your journey at the City Palace, the architectural masterpiece that reflects Jaipur’s royal heritage. Here, you can explore courtyards, museums, and the Maharaja’s residence. (Read our full Why City Palace is the Heart of Jaipur’s Royal Past  for a detailed guide).

Right next to it is the Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest observatories in the world. Its astronomical instruments, some still functional, highlight Jaipur’s scientific past.

Midday: Hawa Mahal and Local Lunch

Just a short walk from City Palace is the iconic Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds. Admire its unique honeycomb façade designed for royal women to observe street life unseen.

After sightseeing, head to a nearby traditional restaurant for a Rajasthani thali, where dishes like dal baati churma and gatte ki sabzi bring Jaipur’s culinary culture to life.

Afternoon: Albert Hall Museum and Local Markets

Spend your afternoon at the Albert Hall Museum is one of   the most famous museum in  jaipur and  Rajasthan’s oldest state museum. Its collection of artefacts, paintings, and textiles offers insight into the region’s diverse history.

Later, stroll through Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar, perfect places to shop for jewellery, handicrafts, and colourful textiles.

Evening: Sunset at Nahargarh Fort

Wrap up Day 1 with a drive to Nahargarh Fort. From its ramparts, watch the sun setting over the Pink City. The view is particularly spectacular and gives you a panoramic sense of Jaipur’s layout.

Day 2: Forts, Culture, and Local Life

Morning: Amber Fort

No Jaipur itinerary is complete without visiting Amber Fort, one of Rajasthan’s most majestic landmarks. Built with sandstone and marble, its Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) and sprawling courtyards make it a highlight of your trip. (For more inspiration, see our Top Places to Visit in Jaipur blog).

If time permits, you can also stop by Panna Meena ka Kund, a traditional stepwell near Amber Fort, which is both historic and photogenic.

Midday: Jaigarh Fort

Close to Amber, Jaigarh Fort is famous for housing the world’s largest cannon on wheels, Jaivana. The fort’s strategic design and architecture give you a glimpse into Rajasthan’s military history.

Enjoy lunch at a nearby café offering views of the fort and surrounding hills.

Afternoon: Cultural Walk and Temples

Return towards the city for a heritage walk, where you can experience the rhythm of Jaipur’s daily life. Explore old lanes filled with artisans, spice markets, and street food vendors.

Visit Govind Dev Ji Temple, one of Jaipur’s most revered spiritual sites, located within the City Palace complex.

Evening: Chokhi Dhani Village Resort

End your 2-day Jaipur trip with a cultural evening at Chokhi Dhani, an ethnic village resort. From folk dances and puppet shows to camel rides and a grand Rajasthani dinner, it offers an authentic experience of Rajasthan’s traditions.
